See Supplemental Information for Additional Information on Update Status This feature class was digitized from legal descriptions by the City of Houston Planning and Development Department, GIS Services Division. The legal descriptions originate from the Planning and Development Department Public Policy Division; their legality is established with the approval of the Houston City Council. Population figure is the estimate also from City of Houston Planning and Development as of January 1, 2007. This version is a major update from the 2006 version. The boundary line matches HCAD parcel boundaries. COHGIS staff revisited legal descriptions to verify the limit. (There is no boundary change at Houston ship channel area.) There are three Service Types: Full Service, Limited Service, and Pending. Polygons with "Full Service" tag are full purpose City limits. Polygons with "Limited Service" tag are limited purpose City limits. Polygons with "Pending" tag are area under review and are not current city limits. This data is continuously updated. It was updated from legal descriptions which can be found on record at the City of Houston. City boundaries delineated as Full very rarely change but ever few years. Boundaries delineated as Limited change 2 times a year.
